Southern Wesleyan University, disabilities and special needs boards of Pickens and Anderson counties and elected officials teamed up Monday to break ground for the future site of a housing community where those with special needs and student mentors will live.
In a news release from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, Capt. Greg Reed said an investigation into Coax Arnold Sanford V, 24, of 129 Vine Road in Westminster, and his involvement in the Dec. 20, 2015, death of 33-year-old Jesse Mulkey, 33, at 330 Brock Road in Westminster is still ongoing.
A bill that would reform how South Carolina’s state retirement system is funded could leave the school districts in Oconee and Pickens counties facing a shortfall of approximately $1.2 million and $1.3 million next year, respectively.
