After Kenneth Strother Collins was found guilty by a jury of his peers on charges of murder, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime Wednesday afternoon, Judge Scott Sprouse took a long pause before announcing his sentence.
WALHALLA — In heartbreaking fashion, the Walhalla Razorbacks lost their first home playoff game in quite some time, dropping a five-set thriller against the Broome Centurions in which Walhalla won the first two sets. After jumping up 2-0 by claiming the opening pair of sets 25-19 and 25-22, Walhalla fell 25-16, 25-18 and 15-8 in the remaining three sets, with the 3-2 win by Broome advancing the Centurions into the next round and ending the Razorbacks’ season.
The Seneca girls’ tennis team advanced in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs with a 4-3 victory over Chapman on Wednesday. The Lady Cats will be at home on Monday with either Southside or Fairfield-Central providing the opposition.
