SENECA — A Clemson University student faces 15 charges — including burglary and sexual assault — in two separate incidents Saturday morning where he was reported to be naked.
Luke Carter Owens, 21, of 134 Dolphin Point Drive, Beaufort, is charged with first-degree burglary, two counts each of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, third-degree assault and battery, and indecent exposure, three counts of malicious injury to property, and one count each of breach of peace, entering premises after warning, second-degree burglary, public disorderly conduct and assault of a law enforcement officer, according to warrants.
Clemson University spokesman Joe Galbraith confirmed Owens is a Clemson student who “is enrolled in classes this spring.”
“Any student who engages in behaviors that violate the student code of conduct is subject to disciplinary sanction, including suspension or expulsion,” Galbraith wrote in an email to The Journal Monday afternoon.
Owens was released from the Oconee County Detention Center Sunday afternoon on a $86,335 surety bond, but is required to wear an electronic monitoring device, according to Oconee County Sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Watt.
