WEST UNION — A telephone meeting of the West Union Town Council on Wednesday offered some relief for at least one new water customer who will be moving into city limits.

An emergency ordinance to break down the $125 water service deposit to three payments unanimously passed at the 4 p.m. meeting. Mayor Linda Oliver said the ordinance is to assist those facing lack of work during the COVID-19 outbreak.

While it only currently affects one customer, the ordinance lasts another 60 days — or until council suspends it — meaning others moving into the town would receive the same installment payment options.
