The West-Oak High School FFA Chapter will receive the National FFA Three Star Award at a Recognition Banquet during the National Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., Oct. 20-23, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association. “The Three Star Award is the highest level of recognition available to a select few FFA chapters from the 520,000-member National FFA Organization,” Parris said.
What happens to the rest of the roast chicken that didn’t get eaten at dinner? Or the extra rice or couscous the family couldn’t finish? It might get pulled out a few days later for a meal of boring leftovers that will be met with groans. Or it could just be forgotten. It is not a novel idea and it doesn’t take a Ph.D. to know that children have a better opportunity to succeed in life when they have someone to support and encourage them. Ideally, that person is the child’s parent. Sometimes, however, that role is filled by a Volunteer Guardian ad Litem.
