The Gatorade Company on Thursday named Carisma Holland of Seneca High School as its 2016-17 Gatorade South Carolina Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Holland is the first Gatorade South Carolina Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year to be chosen from Seneca High School.
Seneca’s Carisma Holland turned the South Carolina State High School League state championship track and field meet into her own private playground during her time in the Golden Corner, dominating the competition in discus and shot put.
CENTRAL — The Daniel Lions boys’ soccer team began their 2017 campaign having lost seven starters from the year before. Not a lot was expected of them, and the season got off to a slow start. Yet the young squad figured out how to turn it around, with the help of one of its team captains, John Martin.
WALHALLA — In her sophomore year at Walhalla High School, Brianne Hendrickson joined the soccer team. Fast-forward to 2017, and Hendrickson was a team captain as a senior helping to lead the Lady Razorbacks to the third round of the state playoffs.
