Happy Valentine’s Day! | Test

Willie says: Can you believe it’s Valentine’s Day already? Seems like we were just celebrating New Year’s Day a few weeks ago. Are anybody’s resolutions still unbroken? In honor of today Willie presents this poem: Roses are red, Violets are blue. Happy Valentine’s Day From Willie to you!

Hang up and drive

I, too, am a “Worried Driver.” A few years ago, I purchased 100 bumper stickers on the Internet that say “Hang Up and Drive.” We put one on our car, and my daughter and I have been handing them out to anyone who sees it and shares the sentiment. I have about 20 left, and when they are gone, I will buy more.

Even as Christians we still sin

Question: If I do something wrong after I’ve given my life to Jesus, do I lose my salvation? This worries me a lot, because I know I’m not perfect and I’ll stumble. — H.A. | Answer: If we lost our salvation every time we sinned, then no one would ever be saved — because no matter how hard we try, even as Christians we still sin.

Question: As far as I’m concerned, religion is just a crutch for weak people. We need to be strong and rely on ourselves, and quit believing in something that doesn’t even exist (namely, God). I’ll bet you won’t dare to reprint this. — W.R. | Answer: Let me assure you that I’m reprinting your letter for only one reason: I hope that what I say will help you stop and think more deeply about the road you’re on.

Lies, lies and liars!

Why do our government officials tell us so many lies? Do they really think we are a bunch of fools? Sadly, that seems to be the case. The saddest part of all is that they have a pretty good basis for their beliefs. They’ve been lying to us for so long, and getting by with it for the most part, they have little incentive to believe we will ever wise up.

My basketball buddies

Timidly I drove to Greenville that Tuesday night and walked into the YMCA gym to watch the guys in wheelchairs play their weekly game. A small scattering of relatives sitting in the bleachers looked at me quizzically as I quietly sat down to watch. The guys were playing hard — turning, passing, throwing and yelling at each other the whole time.
