Wide receiver Chad Terrell of Dallas, Ga., has a final three of South Carolina, Oregon and N.C. State. Oregon replaces Ole Miss from his previous top three. Terrell took an official visit to Oregon earlier this month. As for a visit to South Carolina, Terrell said, “Yes, but it will not be anytime soon.”
Neither Clemson nor South Carolina have ever been, or will ever be, able to build a championship-caliber football program solely on in-state recruiting. That’s just a numbers game. But what the Palmetto State might lack in quantity, it often makes up for in quality.

South Carolina added wide receiver Shawn Smith (6-0, 170) of Brunswick, Ga., and running back Kyshaun Bryan (5-10, 190) of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to the 2017 commitment list on Saturday after both recruits attended the social gathering put on by Gamecocks’ head coach Will Muschamp and his staff.
