South Carolina is back on the board with a 2022 commitment. After quarterback recruit Gunner Stockton decommitted form South Carolina in January, Shane Beamer and his defensive coaching staff restarted the process of stocking the ’22 class with a commitment from highly regarded safety Anthony Rose (6-4, 180) of Hallandale, Fla., on Tuesday.
The trio of Brady Allen, Wes Clarke and Andrew Eyster combined to go 9-for-10 with eight RBI, and Thomas Farr struck out eight in a six-inning start as the South Carolina baseball team opened its season with a 12-1 win over Dayton on Friday at Founders Park.
On Wednesday, South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer filled out his 2021 recruiting class with a commitment from Assumption University transfer cornerback Carlins Platel (6-2, 190), a Massachusetts native who chose the Gamecocks over Mississippi State and Coastal Carolina.
The South Carolina baseball team was picked to finish fourth in the SEC’s Eastern Division by the league’s head coaches on Thursday, while junior infielder/catcher Wes Clarke was named a preseason second-team All-SEC selection.
